Richard James
Commander - Navy

Commander Richard L James is a United States Navy Combat Veteran with over 18 Years of Naval service.  While in the Navy Richard advanced to the rank of Engineman Chief Petty Officer (Surface Warfare). 

  • Joined the VFW in 1995 but then due to work schedule let membership drop.
  • Rejoined the VFW Post 6710 in 2016 and was elected to the Junior Vice Commander position.
  • Very shortly after that accepted the position as Post Commander due to Past commander resigning.
  • Board member of the Veterans Service Commission of Clinton County.
  • Richard was a member of the Clinton County Honor Flight committee and helped to setup two Honor Flights to Washington DC for our Clinton county Veterans.
  • Married for 37 years to Gretchen (Luecking) James, having a Son Randy and Daughter Heather (who we lost in 2008 to Type 1 Diabetes)
  • Two Granddaughters, Skylar and Annika James
